Antique, sweet, simple double silver heart made in 1896 by John Maitland Talbot in Edinburgh. He was a Scottish jeweller who was registered at the Glasgow and Edinburgh Assay Offices and led a workshop for the Lynedoch School of Artistic Handicraft in Edinburgh in the early 1890’s. Known to work for Phoebe Anna Traquair (1852-1936), an Irish artist who went on to become leading member of the Scottish Arts and Crafts movement and was one of Scotland’s leading art enamellers in the early 20th century. He first worked for Traquair in 1893. Old C clasp on back and “JMT” stamped up at the top.
